As we work to right ourselves in the wake of the referendum and subsequent political and financial upheaval, it is clear that to weather the turmoil, London must create its own certainties. We will need to work together and directly with government to sustain housing, jobs, priority infrastructure, growth and openness to the world – and be mindful of UK-wide economic balance.
Future of London’s 15th July Brexit briefing, hosted by Arup, was designed to share insight on these issues from leaders in our cross-sector network. The goal was to seek clarity, share ideas and useful intel, and start to move forward with confidence as a unified sector.
This was a guided Chatham House session, kicked off by a briefing from LSE’s Tony Travers (live from the EU!); followed by sector responses and a moderated discussion. Here are the summary notes from the session (PDF). Feel free to get in touch with follow-up questions.
As a companion piece, FoL has curated a selection of links to useful briefings, which you can download here.
Moving ahead, we intend to work with others to understand and mitigate emerging impacts, and to help the sector act on opportunities. We will also have a follow-up event on Thurs 29th September. More information will be sent closer to the date.
